Most of us are still experimenting, so many “mistakes” are really just learning moments.

But if there is a common trap I’ve noticed, it’s this:

We treat the new thingamajig as entertainment 
instead of a tool for thinking.

It’s the same pattern we fall into with every new technology.

We poke it, joke with it, and distract ourselves with it, long before we ask the deeper questions:

• What could this help me understand?
• How could this expand my abilities?
• What would thoughtful use actually look like?

Growth only happens when we pause long enough to ask what the tool is for and how it might sharpen our thinking instead of replacing it.

So that big mistake isn’t about AI at all. It’s intrinsic to our humanity. It’s our own little “Groundhog Day,” repeating the same habits until we finally decide to wake up and use the tool with intention.
